We are delighted to announce the launch of our new Rapid Access Eye Clinic (R.A.E.C) At the Cork Eye Clinic.

The R.A.E.C. provides patients with recently occurring medical eye conditions with an ophthalmological assessment within 24-48 hours where possible.

R.A.E.C. appointment hours:
Mon-Fri 09:00-16:00

Please note that we do not offer a Walk-in Clinic  
Appointments must be made by a GP or Optometrist only.

Please advise patients to bring a list of current medications to the appointment along
with their referral letter. 

Eye conditions treated in the R.A.E.C. include:

  • Sudden reduction of vision in one or both eyes
  • Red eyes/lids
  • Painful/irritated/watering eyes
  • Recent onset of flashes and floaters
  • Foreign Body removal 

Eye conditions NOT treated in the R.A.E.C. include:

  • Traumatic eye injury (penetration/blunt/lacerations)
  • Chemical eye injury/burn
  • Complications from recent eye surgery
